1/4/15

While many were looking forward to UFC 182, only the hardcore MMA fans were zoned in on IGF Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye 2014. The year end fight card featured such veterans as Shinya Aoki, Satoshi Ishii and Mirko "CroCop". Aoki, the ONE FC Lightweight champion, defeated Yuki Yamamoto via twister submission at 1:21 of round 1. Heavyweight Chris Barnett earned a TKO victory over Shinchi Suzukawa at 1:57 of round 1. And in the main event, Heavyweight MMA legend Mirko "CroCop" dispatched of Satoshi Ishii by TKO (head kick and punches) in round 2.

IGF wasn't the only promotion to host a New Year's Eve event. Deep - Dream Impact 2014 took place at the famous Saitama Super Arena in Japan. A total of 22 fights were featured. Flyweight Yuki Motoya earned the biggest win of his career with a victory over Matt Manzanares via TKO at 3:17 of round 3. The night was capped off with Lightweight Satoru Kitaoka defeating Yoshiyuki Yoshida by unanimous decision.

UFC 182 was supposed to start off 2015 with a bang for the promotion but it fell short of that goal with a main card filled entirely of decisions. Lightweight contender Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone defeated young up and comer Myles Jury by unanimous decision. The main event saw Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones cruise past Daniel Cormier to a decision win.

The UFC has announced that with a win over Dennis Siver at UFC Fight Night 59, "The Notorious" Conor McGregor would be next in line to challenge Featherweight champion Jose Aldo.
